Brycemoor
Music Artist/songwriters Get Around
Two
of Brycemoor’s roster--Joel Kroeker and Alana Levandoski—
will be front-and-center this Fall on "Borrowed Tunes 2: A
Canadian Tribute to Neil Young.”
Among
the other Canadian artists presented on this star-studded 2-CD are:
54-40, Barenaked Ladies, Great Lake Swimmers, Raine Maida, Tom Cochrane,
Tom Wilson, Chantal Kreviazuk, Ron Sexsmith, Liam Titcomb, Jeremy
Fisher, Jorane, Matt Mays, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, the Trews,
and Finger Eleven.
The
original “Borrowed Tunes” in 1994 raised over
$250,000 for The Bridge School in California, and Toronto’s
Safehaven which both work with handicapped children.
For
this new compilation Alana recorded “Don't Be Denied”;
Joel did “When God Made Me” and Dave performed “A
Dream That Can Last.”
The
tracks will be initially promoted over the Sirius Satellite Radio
network and the CD will be distributed by Universal Canada. Brycemoor’s
Larry LeBlanc is writing the liner notes—as he did with the
earlier Young tribute release.
In
the past year, Alana Levandoski has rarely had time to unpack her
bags from traveling. Following dates in the U.K. in early 2007,
Alana traveled to Toronto, Nashville and Muscle Shoals, Alabama
for co-writing sessions, including those with such American heavyweights
as Quinn Loggins, Sam Ashworth, James LeBlanc, Rebecca Lynn Howard,
Rachel Thibodeau, and Gary Nichols. In Canada, she co-wrote with
her good friend Simon Wilcox as well as with Newfoundland’s
Sherry Ryan.
Alana
contributed ‘”Don’t You Remember’ from her
debut Rounder Records album “Unsettled Down” to the
Americana compilation “Bob Harris Presents.” Legendary
BBB Radio 2 DJ Bob Harris has been one of Alana’s biggest
supporters in the UK.
This
compilation captures the essence of the Americana genre with such
household names as John Prine, Billy Joe Shaver, Alison Krauss,
and Ray Wylie Hubbard, Patty Griffin along with fellow Canadians
Sarah Harmer and Kathleeen Edwards as well as Tracy Bonham, Slaid
Cleaves and Todd Snider.
Alana
also recently had two major articles in respected UK magazine Maverick
including a dazzling three-page spread in its June 15th issue.
Joel
Kroeker recently completed a Western Canadian tour in support of
his second True North album “Into The Fire.” He then
went off to Tokyo to film his video of “Against Myself.”
Meanwhile,
Joel’s career in Quebec heats up. He started the year with
his duet with Quebec-based singer/songwriter Dany Bédar,
“Deja Vu" topping play lists throughout the province,
as well as at MusiMax video service. Bédar has since recorded
Joel’s song “A Painted Face.”
A
Kroeker co-write “Let It Ride” is featured on Jonas’
sophomore Deja Musique album “Suite Life.” The album,
issued in Quebec in Oct. 2006 has sold more than 50,000 copies to
date. The album is slated to be released outside Quebec in the Fall.
A video of “Let It Ride” was shot in early July.
Joel
has recently been co-writing with Ducharme in Vancouver and he also
penned four songs with acclaimed Toronto songwriter Lisa dalBello.
